Let begin by welcoming you...I realize, now that I am properly medicated for depression that writing and blogging is really a way I want to be able to connect with everyone. I have decided that one of the many things I am good at is writing, and within that writing I want to be able to advocate for things I believe in. With that I ask your support and understanding that I am always willing to agree to disagree with opposing view point should I post something contraversial on here, which is very likely to happen.
This year posed to be full of self understanding for me. To most of you reading this, this will be the first time you have heard about this: I have come out of the closet. Okay what does that mean for me. I hate being labled and put in a box. All Summer I have been coming out as Bi, but really that isn't true. I think that was my way of justifying previous relationships with men, and to make this transition of understanding better for me. So I'm gay. Being gay can mean so many different things. So I specify it with identifying with the LGBT community.
While identifying with the LGBT community I realized I want to advocate for their equal rights. The right to marry. The right to not be fired for orientation. Did you realize there are still 29 states in this country based on equality and the american dream, and yet they can fire someone for being gay? With that I am using my gift of words to start here with advocating.
Coming out has been one of the most freeing things I have ever done. The other thing that seems to be life changing right now is this strong desire to go to graduate school. Now I know I have said that many times, but this time it is too strong to ignore. My only conclusion is that I am being called back to school by God. Now I will admit God hasn't been talking to me very clearly lately, but this I know is Him, same with my need to come out to be happy.
Have questions, feel free to ask...write comment I'm game for that too.
Thanks,
Jen
